Our Story

Camira Dental was founded in 1992 by former owner-operators Bryan and Ros Dowse. At the time, there were no dentists local to the Camira area and the developing Springfield corridor. Camira Dental was launched to fill the needs of the surrounding suburbs and offer quality dental services to the local community.

Since then, the business has grown to service more people than ever, and we employ three dentists and a team of dental assistants. Camira Dental’s growing team is now led by Ellen Pun and James Nguyen, the business’ owner-operators. After more than a decade of dentistry experience at Camira Dental, Principal Dentist Ellen Pun is supported by husband James in taking over the practice. James comes from a business background and has taken on daily operations and behind the scenes work for the practice. We're also thrilled to say that Bryan Dowse remains a big part of the Camira Dental family and will be staying on as a senior dentist, continuing to offer his incredible experience to our community.

Ellen Pun

Ellen attended Somerville House Brisbane, then attended the University of Queensland graduating with her dental degree in 2010.

Bryan Dowse

Senior Dentist

Bryan attended Ipswich Grammar School, then graduated in Dentistry from the University of Queensland in 1981.

James Nguyen

Business Manager

James is a Springfield native and one half of the husband-and-wife team behind Camira Dental. James runs the daily operations and handles everything behind the scenes.

Kandy Chiu

Associate Dentist

B.Oral H. GDip. Dent

Kandy grew up and attended high school in Auckland, New Zealand. She then went on to study dentistry at Griffith University on the Gold Coast, graduating with her dental degree in 2012.

Neethu George

Associate Dentist

B.D.S

Neethu studied dentistry in India, graduating in 2013. She then completed the Australian Dental Council examinations in 2017 and has since been practicing dentistry in Australia.

Tahlia Wong

Associate Dentist

B.Oral H. GDip. Dent

Tahlia grew up in Brisbane and competed her studies at Griffith University. She then worked in both public and private practices in Central Queensland before moving down to Brisbane, where it is now her pleasure to be working with the team at Camira Dental

Our Assistants

Our Dental Assistants are all encouraged to attend college and achieve Certificate III in Dental Assisting.

When you call our practice, you'll be connected to a person and not an answering machine. The high level of training our assistants have means they'll be able to help you with most of your enquiries. A certificate 3 in dental assisting is a 1-year part-time vocational course with on-site training to obtain the necessary skills for the profession.

Skills such as competency in infection control, practice management, and chairside assisting are mandatory requirements.
